War for Cybertron PC PS3

Transformers: War for Cybertron for the PC and the PlayStation 3 are both pretty decent video games and a welcome addition to the Transformers universe. The War for Cybertron follows the origins of the Decepticons and Autobots war as well as the end of their world, Cybertron.

In the PlayStation 3 and PC version you have pretty much the same game with the same story and everything, the main differences being video and audio quality. War for Cybertron has the two campaigns from each side of the Transformers world of Autobots and Decepticons as well as the multiplayer gaming in 5 on 5 matches with several different game types.

War for Cybertron also has a wave attack game type for individual players called Escalation which has the character robots that are unlocked during the campaign. The campaign plays well and has the main story of the last days of Cybertron and the fight between the Decepticons and Autobots as they fight on the dying planet.

Cybertron has been devastated by the constant warring between the two robot clans and the planet is finally breaking apart so the robots fight one last major clash. You fight on each side trying to rest the dark energon from the other to turn the tide of the fight and win the war.

The campaign puts you through each major Transformer one at a time and also allows you to pick one of three Transformers at the start of each level. During gameplay you cannot change which robot you play as but you can use the Transformers transformation to play as either a vehicle or the human form of robot.
During gameplay you also can choose different weapons depending on the ones you have unlocked during the campaign so you get additional customization the further into the game you get. You can play the campaign cooperatively using up to three different players using the online multiplayer servers or alone.

The campaign will last a little more than your average game time with about 12 hours of single player campaign time as well as at least a few more for the Escalation mode. The online multiplayer gaming is fun and more fun than I had actually expected with some interesting and fast paced gaming.

I enjoy single player first person shooters and only in the past few years have really started to enjoy online multi player games but Transformers brings something more to the gaming table. The third person gaming is different and the levels are specifically designed to take advantage of being able to transform on the fly as it were.

One of the great features of War for Cybertron is being able to transform while doing anything such as jumping or boosting while flying off a ledge. This ability to transform in the middle of actions creates a unique and fun to watch gameplay feature that adds a great ability.

The transforming while gaming makes a great way to attack using one weapon type and to be able to very quickly switch and attack with your next type fast. Having the ability to transform in the middle of a fight also allows you the ability to have several different weapons so running out of ammo is not a recurring problem.

The gameplay and action in the single player campaign is great and I would highly suggest running through at least a good portion of it before tackling the multiplayer. Once you do jump into the multiplayer gaming you can really take your time and use the level progression to get more weapons and expertise.

Starting out in the multiplayer I had little recourse but to die and die and die until I not only got the hang of things but also till I got some better weapons. Using your various weapons and even hand to hand combat as well as knowing when to use them makes the game fun and constantly changing.

Using both close combat and longer range weapons makes the game interesting and the lower person versus person count of 10 total means not being hurried. During multiplayer you can always find the action by your teammates or you can use the larger size of the maps to keep to the fringes and try to pick off opponents.

The single player and even multiplayer gaming makes a well made game that is right in the middle of the Transformers world and story line but the Escalation adds even more gameplay and value. The Escalation takes a small defensible area and sticks you in the middle of wave after wave of opponents in a very common but new type of attack gaming.

The wave attack using the Transformers robot abilities makes for a fun diversion from the campaign and multiplayer gaming and hones your abilities. War for Cybertron has plenty of things to do with the three game types and the two main ones will make this a worthwhile purchase.

The video and audio are great with both versions being well made and as usual the PlayStation 3 version scores a little better with its high definition. The graphics look great and the effects, especially the transforming looks great with well done textures and colors.

The audio is also well done and about the same on both systems with some rather classic gaming music but the effects sound really great. The transforming again sounds fantastic with the same type of mechanical clanking movements that really highlight the world of the Transformers.

Audio adds to the game and with both audio and video done well the gaming for both the PC and PS3 versions are great so it would really come down to which system you're better at. I enjoy using my keyboard and mouse so I would prefer the PC version but the PS3 version does have a little better graphics.

Transformers: War for Cybertron is a great game and well worth purchasing and the PC as well as the PS3 versions are the best of the bunch out of the several I have tried. War for Cybertron has a great story that you can actually follow or leave by the wayside as you crush your opponents in the heavy metal Transformer fashion.
