Whisper Max Cooling FAn & Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 for the Xbox 360

The Whisper Max cooling fan for the Xbox 360 is a great multispeed fan modification and no mod of a console would be complete without the right tools with the Zoozen Access Pro Tool Kit v.2.

Whisper Max Fan

Divineo is a specialty website store for console gamers who are into modding their console systems or just wanting to get those hard to find parts. I recently received two products that really work well together in the Talismoon Whisper Max multispeed fan for replacing your standard XBox 360 fan and a multi piece tool kit made for console modifications called the Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 from Zoozen.

Access Pro Tool Kit V.2

Both kits are available from the Divineo website at a good price with both being more of a modders specialty but the tool kit is for anyone who does any work on their console systems. The Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 is a complete bit driver kit that also includes a specialty tool for opening the case of the Xbox 360 console game system.

The Access kit contains a bit driver handle, 25 bits, tweezers and the Xbox 360 specialty tool that comes in a convenient carry case. While the tools are not the highest quality materials they are well made and the bits especially are good heat treated bits that work well. The handle is a comfortable rubber coated magnetic tipped bit driver handle common for these types of bits.

The bits are a nice set especially equipped for console repair with 2 tri tip bits, one slotted bit, 2 hex bits, 2 Torx nut driver bits, 5 Philips bits and 10 Torx bits. The tweezers are a rather cheap pair simply made from some soft metal and spot welded together but come in handy while working on the console systems for moving parts or wires around.

The special tool used for opening the case of your Xbox 360 is made especially for prying open the case and fits with the seven slots on the back of the case to pop open the case. This special tool makes opening the case much easier and just takes a little use to figure out how best to open the case with it.

The Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 is for use not only with the Xbox or Xbox 360 but the bits are used on the Nintendo DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Advanced and PSP as well as all the console systems. Many of the gaming consoles and handheld devices as well as the cartridges have specialty screws so that consumers could not open them and this kit has all the bits you could want. I have found other consumer electronics that also have these specialty screws and having this kit around for my computer use is great.

The Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 is a great all around tool kit to have for anyone working on any electronics, especially the console gaming systems but just about any consumer electronics with special type screws and fasteners. The Zoozen Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 comes in very handy when trying to work on your console system like installing a better cooling solution in your Xbox 360 such as the Talismoon Whisper Max with nitro switch.

The Whisper Max is a replacement for the standard cooling fan in your Xbox 360 and comes with all the parts you need to install into either the standard wiring to the CD/DVD drive or the original four pin connector. If you have either the Elite or original Xbox 360 this fan will help lower temperatures using a better and faster fan as well as using two heat sinks for chips inside the Xbox 360.

Standard Fan & Whisper Max Fan

The kit includes the fan itself, a switch for better cooling, a wire adapter, sets of LED’s and two heat sinks that have adhesive tape on them. To install the fan you first need to remove the standard fan by opening up the case and removing the fan and you also have to decide if you want to install the nitro switch.

You then either place the colored LED’s you want on the replacement fan or remove them altogether for no extra interior lighting. Install the Nitro switch if you’re using it into the back of the fan assembly by lining it up with the holes on the back of the console case and install the fan assembly.

The fan connects to the console system using either the supplied adapter cable or straight to the drive of the Xbox 360 depending on your console type. The installation goes very easily and if you get a bit confused there are plenty of step by step guides and videos on the internet to help.

The main question I had was about getting the correct wiring into my system and how to connect them which was easily explained in a couple of the videos I found. The fan is easy to install and works very well with about five degrees overall cooling for me.

Whisper Max Installed

I ran my system while playing games both before the mod and after and saw from two or three degrees lower while in intense gaming and up to about ten degrees at times. I cannot be really accurate with this as I am using a thermometer from Scythe and just taking temperatures using a wireless sensor that is accurate but hard to get repeatable temperature readings.

The readings I used were from the case on a few spots of the system and repeating this several times to get readings and then compared with the readings after I installed the Whisper Max. I saw a definite lower temperature using the higher speed of the Whisper Max but the lower speed did not change the readings much.

The lower speed of the Whisper Max seems to be close to the speed of the standard fan but using the nitro switch and going to the higher speed boosts you’re cooling. I did get a cooler system which is very beneficial with the Xbox 360 as it does get very hot when gaming which is something I have been concerned with since purchasing the system.

The Whisper Max may be noisier but it does cool down the Xbox 360 by enough to make it worthwhile to install even though it does void the warranty of your Xbox 360 system. This would be one thing you would have to decide if it was worthwhile to try to avoid problems of overheating.

Installing the Whisper Max fan is quite easy and only takes about a half hour or so if you are familiar with opening up your console. The Whisper Max is well worth it in my opinion to avoid overheating even if you do void your warranty but you will have to decide that for yourself.

The Whisper Max costs $25 from Divineo and with the nitro switch for a higher cooling speed really works well at keeping your Xbox 360 cool. The Access Pro Tool Kit V.2 also is available at Divineo for $20 and is a great set of tools for any console system owner if you do any work on them.
