The Swissmar 3 Piece Cheese Knife Set includes three cheese cutting tools for both entertaining and everyday use in stainless steel. The three piece set includes the soft cheese cutting knife with large holes to allow the cheese to be cut without getting caught by the blade.
The cheese plane is for those hard cheeses like parmesan for shaving pieces of the cheese off cleanly but thinly for those great cheese shavings for topping and adding to dishes. The cheese cleaver is for regular medium cheeses like cheddar and Colby for everyday cutting of cheese for those cheese lovers.
The Swissmar cheese set is all one piece stainless steel tools with the handles being comfortably shaped for use as well as being hollow. The handles are shaped for both comfort and control while using and add elegance to their design for use in entertaining as well as everyday use.
The soft cheese knife has a simple design with small serrations and holes in the blade so the blade does not catch on the softer cheese. The tip of the soft cheese cutter has a forked tip for easy use of transferring cheese from the cutting surface to a serving tray.
The cheese plane has less of a form fitting handle but the plane is sharp and easily cuts harder cheeses like parmesan and Romano. The plane has a slot big enough to allow the cheese shaving to be placed on the top of the plane while using it to shave off slices.
The cheese cleaver makes for a great way to quickly and easily cut cheese slices perfect for serving to guests or just enjoying yourself. The cleaver is perfect for cutting those numerous slices for entertaining and using the cleaver along with the other cheese cutters worked well for my holiday entertaining.
I used the cheese cutters for all types of cheese bought from local grocery stores including very soft mozzarella, medium cheeses like farmers, cheddar and Colby as well as hard cheeses including Romano and parmesan. The three cutters performed well and cleaning was very easy by hand but they can also be cleaned in a dishwasher.
The hollow handles mean a slightly lower weight for easier handling and the set does weigh just about right for use in both entertaining and for everyday use. I eat a lot of cheese and used these tools, especially the cleaver and soft cheese cutter several times a week during the reviewing and was impressed with both their use and cleaning.
The cutters do not hold the cheese while cutting and even the soft cheese cutter does a great job of cutting those really soft mozzarella cheese balls. I really like the Swissmar 3 Piece Cheese and highly recommend it for the perfect cheese cutting set that only costs about $35.
